The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP) Course is a video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

BLS for Healthcare Providers teaches skills using the American Heart Association's proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback and guide students' acquisition of skills.

The course content includes:

• Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the science from the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
  
• Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
  
• The American Heart Association Chain of Survival
  
• 1-Rescuer CPR & AED for adult, child and infant
  
• 2-Rescuer CPR & AED for adult, child and infant
  
• Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
  
• Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
  
• Relief of choking for adult, child and infant
  
• CPR with advanced airway

 With nearly 80 percent of cardiac arrests occurring outside the hospital, it is important that employers offer CPR and First Aid training for their employees to respond to a sudden cardiac arrest emergency.

  Heartsaver AED is a classroom, video based, instructor led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use as well as how to relieve choking on an adult. Optional modules include child CPR and AED use, infant CPR and child and infant choking.

  Heartsaver AED teaches skills with AHA's research proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students' learning of skills.

  Upon successful completion of the course, including the skills test, students receive a Heartsaver AED Course Completion Card, valid for two years.

  The course includes:

• Key Changes reflecting new science from the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.  
  
• Adult CPR and AED use
  
• Optional modules in child CPR and AED use and infant CPR, including child and infant choking.
  
• Optional written test.

  This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

This course can also be used for laypersons who have the desire to learn these live-saving skills, but do not have the need for the more intense training provided in the BLS for Healthcare Providers course.
